The Natural History Museum in Heraklion is the only one on the island.
The Museum is supported by the University of Crete whereby through research and detailed reconstruction, the fauna and flora of Cretan environment through the ages are on display. The Deinotherium is a reconstructed gigantic animal that draws the attention. Many activities, interactive educative games and a seismic simulation platform are equally interesting.
