Lasithi is surrounded by small islands.
Lasithi is surrounded with islets the most famous of which is Spinalonga. Chrissi is an island with interesting fauna and flora. Koufonisi was used as a transport point to Egypt.
Along the coast line from Elounda to Agios Nikolaos and further to Siteia there are numerous islets that pop out of the sea. The scenery within the gulf of Mirabello is unique and a visit to the islets opposite the shore of Crete is challenging. Small boats can take the travellers to any of these islets. Similarly, at the south there are two larger islands which attract many visitors.
